Havre de Grace retired
It is with great disappointment that I have to announce that Havre de Grace has been retired.
After her work yesterday at Churchill, a little heat was noted in her right front ankle. Still there this morning, Grace was sent to Rood & Riddle to be seen by Dr. Larry Bramlage. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a positive prognosis for continuing her racing career. Attached in the link below is a copy of the vet report from this morning.
Owning Grace through her racing career has been the highlight of my time in horse racing. She was a wonderful, wonderful racehorse, and I feel confident she’ll be an equally wonderful broodmare. Thanks, Grace, for all you gave us, and here’s to a long and enjoyable retirement.
Fox Hill Update
Larry tells me Have de Grace is loving the track the way it is at Churchill now. He says it is completely different than the fall. She will work Sunday when the track opens at 6:00AM. He is very confident the way she is handling Churchill.
He feels we have a good shot the stake at Keeneland today. Joyful Victory is training very well.
I am going up to Ocala to look at all the two year olds with Ian Brennan and Tom McGreevy this Saturday. We will rate them all individually and then compare our ratings. I will later decide how to distribute them to the four trainers we have. I negoiated with Steve Assmussen yesterday and he is going to be our fourth trainer. He will get four horses. Chad Brown and Larry Jones will get the bulk of the remainder of the 17 two year olds and John Servis is getting a start again with one or two. He is training several of our other horses and doing a great job. He will continue to get more two year olds in the future. It is great to be back with John.
I will update you on the rest of the horses in a day or two.
Rick
