Two Year Old Update
All the two year olds that are with my four trainers are doing great. All are very happy with their horses. Steve Asmussen called me this morning and said he loves Horsepower and is going to blow him out tomorrow morning at Belmont. He is going to go 3/8ths. Ian Brennan, the trainer at the Vinery in Florida, called yesterday to update me on the 11 two year olds he still has in Florida. He had breezed a few yesterday morning and commented on them. Daydream, Midnight Rider, Normandy Invasion, Linchpin and Smitten all worked. He was very happy with each and every one of them. Some will be late bloomers such as Linchpin. The others should all be part of the next shipment of horses to their ultimate trainers. All is good with our two year olds so far. We have to keep our fingers crossed.

First Of The Two Year Olds To Trainers
I will be using four trainers this year. Larry Jones, Chad Brown, Steve Asmussen and John Servis. I had promised Larry and Chad each 6 two year olds and Steve Asmussen was my pick to be the addition to our team. He will get three two year olds and John Servis will get two. They will go out to the trainers in three stages or groups of horses. The first group has left or will leave by Sunday, May 6th. Chad Brown has already received his first three. They are Fame and Fortune, Our Republic and Stourbridge Lion. Google Stourbridge Lion and you will see its meaning and we thought it to be a great name for this fast moving and very promising Speightstown colt. He was the last horse I purchased this year at the Keeneland April two year old in training sale. Horsepower will be leaving this weekend in route to Steve at Belmont. He looks to be an early horse and we have high hopes for him. John Servis will be receiving Amethyst who is another Bernardini. This one is a filly. She will be another rather early type and could start in July if all goes well. She has been training well at the Vinery. Anna Pavlova, whose mother is a half sister to Hard Spun, has been training great and will go to Larry Jones at Churchill Downs. Larry will also get Charade on the same van. These are two nice fillies. Larry will end up with three colts and three fillies as will Chad. I will let you know when the next group heads to their new homes.

Stable Update & Grace Video
As you all know, we received the very disappointing news that Grace had an injury that required her retirement. The wind was let out of our sails, but what is important is that she’s well and heads towards her new career in terrific shape. I do think she will make an outstanding broodmare given her talent, looks, and pedigree. Grace arrived at Taylor Made last week and has settled in well. I’ve included some video of her arrival. She looks marvelous as usual.
We don’t have too many horses running at the moment. Joyful had a minor setback but is recuperating at the track with Larry and should resume normal training in the next week or so. USS Constitution, Spin Zone and Coach are all with John Servis and are plugging along. The same is true of Brigade for Larry and The Thinker and Current Design for Chad.
Homer is training in Florida for a return to the track. He’s doing well. Katmango should be finishing his recuperation from chip surgery soon. He was gelded last week and it was discovered that he had a severely twisted testicle which may’ve been causing him pain with certain movement, so it’ll be interesting to see if we notice any difference now that the cause of pain has been removed. Barefoot Mailman is taking time off for his tendon injury. Picture Book and Amazing Grace just went back to the track.
The first group of two-year-olds will be heading to the track late this week. The next group will follow in the 3rd or 4th week of May, and the last group will be ready sometime in June. They’ll be split between Larry, Chad, John, and Steve Asmussen. We’ll announce where each is heading when their shipping plans are finalized. We’ve had little in the way of setbacks with any of the two-year-olds and are hopeful we have a good one or two in the group.
