Update
It was a terrific evening in Beverly Hills. It was the most exciting experience you can imagine, receiving the pinnacle of awards as Havre de Grace was honored as the 2011 Horse of the year.
Havre de Grace is doing great and Larry is letting her go a strong 1/8 down the lane this morning. She is progressing well. We have not decided on her first race but we have to keep in mind what kind of weight we will have to spot some good horses in the handicap races. That is why we are probably not going to run in The Apple Blossom this year. First, Larry is not at Oaklawn and we would have to ship. There are a number of first race options at several tracks and then we always have the option of running against males with no weight issues. The good thing is Larry is thrilled the way she is training.
Joyful Victory is pointed to the Tiffany Lass Stake on February 11th at the Fair Grounds. She had a very nice work this morning going 5/8ths in 101.40. I assume Larry will work her next Monday or Tuesday as the final work before the race.
Brigage is about ready to run. Larry is going to work him 1/2 mile shortly and find a race. Ronald Reagan has a quarter crack and has missed three weeks. He looks like he is ready to be shooed. He is at least 6-8 weeks from running if this shooing is sucessful.
Current Design didn’t finish in the money but he galloped out past everyone pretty quickly after the line. He has more of one speed with no great turn of foot so going longer will be a big help. We are looking at two turns next time out. He still has potential. Amazing Grace has a small issue and I have forgotten what it is but will miss a little time between races. The Thinker is shipping to NY today since he is a New York bred. He should do well at Aqueduct. Silk is coming along nicely and is probably 5 weeks or so from a race. Chad likes her.
Coach is doing great. He will be running within a couple weeks. Barefoot Mailman is doing really well also and is about a month from running. Spin Zone ran great last time out and will be ready in the normal amount of time between races. Spin Zone had a 10.25 rag which was a huge improvement over his two previous races last year.
Hard Line, Navy Seal and USS Constitution are all doing fine and will run in normal intervals between races.
Picture Book, Katmango and Winslow Homer are all recovering at Vinery, Kentucky. SGT Recklass is with Ian Brennan at Vinery, Ocala galloping.
Ian Brennan is very impressed with the twelve two year olds he is training in Ocala. He is very high on Midnight Rider, Friar Light and particularly Fame and Fortune. He is very, very happy with all the rest. They are just in different stages of development. People have asked about Daydream and Ian classifies her as well balanced, strong, good mind, laid back, strong mover and is behind the others due to her colic issue but is galloping 5/8ths now.
