How about in honor of the great movie and horse, War Horse, naming him that in French?

Cheval de Retour

A couple more in French that mean "gallant horse" and "gallant knight" ( or gallant horseman ) respectively.

Cheval Vaillant     ( Gallant Horse ) — which, of course, a war horse ( Cheval de Retour ) would also be!

Chevalier Vaillant or in English, Gallant Knight

They'd have fun with one of these in the town of Havre de Grace and at the tracks, wouldn't they! ;-)

Besides the French word connection to Grace, I really like the fact that from the root of the word, cheval, comes the word chivalry which is thus related both to the horse and its knight.

Here are all I could come up with to honor Grace, knights, horses and their French heritage! Tried to weed out the impractical!

Preux Chevalier — Brave Knight        Fier Chevalier — Proud Knight

Premier Chevalier — First Knight

Cheval de Chevaux — Horse of Horses  ( think this is my favorite — like what it says and the way it sounds )

Galant Chevalier, Galant Cheval  ) Gallant Knight, Gallant Horse )

Cheval Rapide — Swift Horse

Cheval Fougueux — Spirited Horse

Cheval de Bataille — Battle Horse

Cheval Chanceux — Lucky Horse          Cheval Historique — Historic Horse   Cheval Legendaire — Legendary Horse

Cheval Grand — Great Horse, grand

Cheval de Retour –  War Horse

Cheval Courageux — Fearless or Courageous Horse

Cheval Sainte  — Saintly Horse

Au-Dela de L'Image — Beyond the Image ( as in "look beyond the image to what's inside." )

Ironclad Knight   ( as in unbending and protected with iron! )

Sheathed Knight     Redsheathed Knight ( FHF Colors! )        Websheathed Knight

Unstoppable Knight

Imaginary Knight

Knight Recruit          Knight Recruiter

Invisible Knight     ( to bring in the "magic trick" in his pedigree ;-) )

SACRED KNIGHT         ( revered, highly respected and valued )

MALTESE KNIGHT         ( Knights of Malta )         or  KNIGHT OF MALTA

                              SACRED CODE

Or……. if you don't like MALTESE KNIGHT or KNIGHT OF MALTA, how about:

KNIGHT FROM MALTA?

( think I like Sacred Knight or Sacred Code better? )

Anyway, you'll be relieved to know that I'm finally running out of ideas, I think. ;-)

CALL TO RISE ( which would occur for a horse once the starting gate opens ;-) ), I though of when recalling one of my all-time favorite poems written by Emily Dickinson in 1176! It goes:

We never know how high we are

                                    Till we are called to rise;

And then if we are true to plan,

                                     Our statures touch the skies–

                                     The Heroism we recite

                                      Would be a daily thing,

Did not ourselves the Cubits warp

For fear to be a King—

Love it! Smile I also believe that in times of battle, the Grand Master would call to his knights, "RISE," meaning "CHARGE!" Also, just the name, RISE, is available.

Add to list: Knight of Kings

Hi Katrina! Yes! That's the "three sock wonder" we've been talking about and attempting to come up with a good name for him! Rick got on after we started coming up with names and lead us to believe he liked, Knight ( which is taken ), so we started trying to think of names with knight in them, or related to knight. Hope that brings you sorta up to date? ;-) This guy has special written all over him, so he needs a special name! ;-)

PS Thanks for the pic! Can never see this fella enough! Smile

Or another could be, KNIGHT'S POSE. Since he has such a brave and regal pose, just like a knight would have. ;-)

K., what about the name, Spats ( or Knight in Spats )? ;-) In the 19th century, wealthy men would dress-up by wearing them as a cover over their shoe ( usually a white cover over a black shoe).

How about:

VORACIOUS KNIGHT ( as in an eager approach  and unquenchable desire)

AUDACIOUS KNIGHT    ( as in daring and valiant )

CONTENTIOUS KNIGHT    ( as in always in contention, and with the law terms on the dam's side names

      thought this might fit? )

Also, concerning the Hard Spun/Christina's World colt, I came up with some possible names. I know you probably won't keep her and thus will leave the naming up to someone else, but it was still fun to think of!

     WORLDWIND  ( like whirlwind )

     WORLDWIND TOUR or WHIRLWIND TOUR

     TWIRL AROUND

     SWIRL AROUND

     SWIRLAWAY

BODACIOUS KNIGHT  ( brilliant, striking, noticeable )

BOLDACIOUS KNIGHT  ( blend of bold and audacious ) or just:

   BOLDACIOUS

   GLORIOUS KNIGHT

IMPERVIOUS KNIGHT   ( not penetrable )

IMPERMEABLE KNIGHT ( resistant to pain or harm, impenetrable )

   PRECOCIOUS  KNIGHT

Rick, if and when you decide on a name for this special colt, whether from this site or elsewhere, could you let us know (??? ), so my madness will stop!Smile
