Do you know His Hip # (by the way what does that Mean) maybe I can pull a pic up that way.
Jan where on Earth are you coming up with all these Names!! you should go into a consulting Business for naming products cars, companies, etc.
Please Explain to me How Those names tie in with UnBridled Song?
Actually maybe I'll just look up her Pedigree, and maybe seewhat you are talking about. K.

I'm confused. What horse are you talking about? I thought it was the colt. Just ignore my post on the other topic. Sorry about that. AJ (no wonder I got 4 plus 1)

You're funny, K.! I just have such fun trying and don't mind bombing out or looking silly — can't you tell!! ;-)
I made a mistake in the heading, he is a UBS colt out of Ideal Image (Sassy Image is his sister). Thanks for pulling up the pedigree — you can see such names that include wild, magic, grand, lucky, etc.
He was in the second session of the Jan. Keeneland Sales and was hip#749 I believe, hope that helps you! I don't think the above pic is of him, he is just a yearling and has a lot of growing to do. But he looks special — well balanced, great lines and that certain undefinable look! ;-) Hope you can find a pic of him or Victoria can pull him up for you.

Now I'm All Confused (nothing new for me)
Oh Well let me go walk Captain and clear my Head awhile.
I did post a pic of the three legged white foot colt on the other Topic about this. K.

Well, Sassy could be followed, but Ideal Image is the dam, so she would be first in line. ;-) Ideally Suited is one of the few I came up with using her name. The "suited" part has a double meaning, being that he is ideally suited to race and his body or "suit" is ideal.

Okay Jan, I do not know the particulars about naming a race horse so let me put some questions to ya.
The colts father is UNBRIDLES SONG correct?
The mother you said is IDEALLY SUITED correct?
I always assumed if the offspring was a Boy He would be named to tie in with the Father.
If it was a girl she would be named to tie in with the Mother.
What? are the official rules? or are there any rules other than coming up with a crazy enough name that the racing association. likes enough?
Does the name always have to corrospond to the parents name? or can the owner name the Horse what ever they want, Having nothing to do with prior pedigree?
Or Does Tradition warrent Naming the baby after one of the Parents?
Help me out Here will Ya. I Just really Do Not Know! K.
Also Tommy What does HIP# stand for? I was thinking "Horse in Program?"
Also Here is Unbridles Song's Pedigree
Unbridled's Song (foaled 1993 in Kentucky) is an American thoroughbred stallion racehorse. He was sired by 1990 Kentucky Derby winner Unbridled out of the Caro mare, Trolley Song.

Hey Katrina! First of all, Ideally Suited was a name I thought up for this yearling. The dam's name is Ideal Image. Don't think there are many rules other than it needs to be 18 letters or less, clean and not taken. It does not have to relate to anyone or any particular horse, etc. It's nice though from the standpoint that when others hear the name they know who it's related to. The hip# stands for the number the horse wears on its hip and indicates when it will be shown in the ring as they come out in numerical order. Other than that, if there is more to it, others with more knowledge can tell you. ;-) Horse number in program sounds good, but it is their hip where they wear the number — so that seems the most logical answer to me. But, who knows!

Hey Jan,
Thanks for the Info. Sounds all Good to me. I'm sure those that Have Been Bred to High Profile Horses will want to name their Horse to some Connection to either the sire or the Dam.
The Hip thing Makes sense. Never Even New They wore a # on their Hip!
About the names for the Colt. Now "Ideally Suited" is Etched in my Mind Forever!! Also it sounds Great! so I think Rick should Go with That One!
Although I am going to try and come up with some to, now that I know who his Mother and Father are!!
Jan, You must Be Really Relieved you are Home from Your Cruise safe and sound instead of Being on the ship with all this Italian Cruise ship Disaster going on. Imagine seeing that on your Cabin TV Wow!!
We came Back to To New York From the Carribean During Hurricane Charly I think it was. I Did Not Sleep all Night! I had The Like Preservers All over the Whole Cabin! I have Video of the water sprays coming All the way up to our Deck! It was Very Very Scary!!! How Did you Like The Cunard Line? I understand they run A very Nice ship! Elegant! and Swanky!! K.

K., thanks for the support on Ideally Suited. Keep the names coming! As Rick said, you never know when one might stick! ;-) A couple others that take the UBS pedigree and Ideal Image names into account:
Ideal Prospect ( Mr. Prospector )
Native Image
My sister and I were watching these poor people on the Costa Cruise Ship feeling so sorry for them, but at the same time glad it wasn't us!! We were also glad we didn't see the accident before our cruise! Anyway, those poor people, sounds like the Captain must have been asleep at the wheel! ;-)
Cunard is a very lovely cruise line and the Queen Mary 2 is top-notch — although my sister said the food used to be better and has slipped since Carnival has purchased it. A sign of the times, I guess.
Sounds like you had a scary experience! Happy to see you arrived home in one piece! You never know what will come your way during hurricane season!

Ideal Image sounds great. I like Regal Image also, and Ideal Monarch. Here's some with no name affiliation whatsoever:
Master Plan
Out of the Blue
The Skys the Limit
Winner Takes All
Biscayne Bay
Arion's Image (Iliad)
Imagine That (Katrina's reaction to the 3 white legs. What a hoot!!)

AJ, Ideal Image is the name of his mom and Royal Image is taken. ;-) To check on name availability, go to jockeyclub.com, click onto site map and then On the Book names. If you type in the name you're interested in, it will tell you whether there is a direct match or not ( appears in red letters ). Hope that helps. :)
Like Master Plan and Arion's Image. Check for availability.
